Freetown, Sierra Leone April 19, 2025 Ambassador Mohamed A. Koroma, a proud alumnus of the Youth International Leadership Institute (YIL-Network) cohort 7 Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Program and a dynamic youth ambassador, has made a significant impact in advocating for the rights of underprivileged students in Sierra Leone.
On Monday, April 14, 2025, Amb. Koroma spearheaded a historic press conference in collaboration with the Children's Forum Network SL, addressing a critical issue affecting numerous schoolchildren who were unable to register for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) due to the late submission of Continuous Assessment (CA) forms.
Thanks to his relentless advocacy and the collective efforts of youth and civil society stakeholders, the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education responded positively. In a reassuring move, the Ministry committed to covering the exam fees of all affected students, allowing them to sit for the private WASSCE exams without financial burden.
Amb. Koroma action reflects the core values instilled through YIL-Network CPD training, which equips young leaders across Africa with tools in policy advocacy, community engagement, and sustainable development.
"This moment proves that when young people are empowered with the right knowledge and platforms, they can drive meaningful change. I’m proud to be a product of the YIL-Network CPD program and to serve as a voice for children whose future was at risk,” said Ambassador Koroma.
The YIL-Network congratulates Ambassador Koroma on this milestone and remains committed to supporting more youth leaders who are transforming their communities through courage, collaboration, and competence.#yilnetwork #connect #impact #inspire #emergingleaders #ChangeYourLife #community
